This is a surprise that I am guessing doesn't happen too often. This little guy was just 10 days old in these pictures and his mom had no idea we were doing them. His aunt offered to watch him for a few hours so his mom could get some rest and we jumped at the opportunity to take his pictures as a surprise for her. I hope mommy and daddy enjoy them. He is such an adorable tiny little guy. Welcome to the world, little Lucas.
My friend Carrie makes these adorable hats and sent me some for the boys. They are made from re-purposed t-shirts, are so soft and the kids love them! Nolan isn't really one for any kind of hat, but he wears this one like a champ and doesn't complain a bit. Ricky tends to take hats off after a short time because they itch or are just plain uncomfortable, but he loves his dinosaur hat.
You can check out the Mountain Soleil blog or go directly to Carrie's etsy store.
Please excuse the fact that the babies aren't clothed - they had just gotten out of the bath tub. And excuse the drool - they are teething like crazy (in fact, we noticed Benny's first tooth today - exciting news!)
I have been missing a lot on my blog lately... all with good reason. As if mothering twins (who I can't believe are now six months old!!) and a busy four year old wasn't enough reason to be too busy to blog ~ I have been super busy on the photography front.
- I have been working on my website and new blog (and will probably remain somewhat missing on this blog until these are ready to go live and then you can pop over to the new location where I promise I will be more regular!).
- I attended an awesome workshop by Julie Parker (who is an amazing photographer) where I learned a ton and have some fun, fun images to share including a bridal shoot designed by Keith Bryce (who is super cool!) from Project Runway Season 5.
- I did a newborn shoot that I have been trying to edit and share.
- And I have 6 month pictures of the boys to edit and share. (did I mention I can't believe it's been 6 months!)
So lots of exciting stuff coming soon!
Hope you are all enjoying your Valentine's Day! Here are a few updated photos of the boys.
Last year I decided to make Ricky's birthday cake myself. It was a ton of work and I ended up staying up sooo late the night before making and decorating his cake. But the next morning when he woke up and ran downstairs to see it, it was like Christmas morning all over again, and it was so worth it. And thus, a special birthday morning tradition was begun. This year, his excitement was the same. He couldn't wait to wake up on the morning of his birthday to see his cake.
Here is the set up, prior to him coming down the stairs to see his cake and presents.
Here he is, "closing his eyes." Not sure why closing his eyes also means covering his ears, but this is what he did. Oh and I guess he didn't close his eyes, just the ears.
We decided to let Ricky open his presents this morning also. (it really was like Christmas morning all over again). This is his reaction to seeing that he did get "a real camera with a light!" (light = flash)
Buying a real camera instead of a kids one has proven to be a great decision. He knows how to work it just fine including the playback button to see his pictures. The only not so great thing about the decision is now I am living in his world... sit here, smile, don't smile like that... smile for real, Ricky - sit still! My ever so often nagging commands have now become his commands for me. But that is okay, I love seeing his shots and the view through the eyes a four year old. The number of pictures of me rank right up there with the number of pictures he has taken of a Nerf gun bullet. Thank goodness for digital.
And a few pictures from his party where he had a blast bowling with his friends:
And the party favors, with special tags lest someone not understand why they got a hula-hoop at an Alvin and the Chipmunk party!
It was an awesome day.... and Ricky is now a big FOUR year old!
Four years ago today, Ricky was born! I cannot believe that four years have passed so quickly. I just finished cleaning up after trying my hand at my first fondant cake. It was a little tricky, but so fun! Ricky is so excited to wake up this morning and see his cake and have it be his birthday - finally.
Lots more to come about the big four year old but currently I am falling asleep into my keyboard so I had better call it a night.
Alrighty, here are the rest of Micaela's pictures. I am sure you gathered from the previous post, that she is four. And four is a BIG deal! (We know this first hand as Ricky is turning four on Sunday.)
So, she is now four and she is an absolute hoot! She, like another four year old I know well, has a mind of her own. Her favorite color is blue and she brought all kinds of fun blue things to use in her pictures and she decided how she was going to use them. She positioned the ottoman where she wanted it, decided how she would sit or stand and pretty much had a great time doing what she wanted. She was open to some suggestions but her ideas pretty much worked.
I am sure this little beauty will go far in life.
It was great seeing you all again! Thank you so very much for the ottoman Debbie, I am sure I will get a lot of use out of it. And Kallie, I hope you are feeling better.
